Beach Hut reviews and FAQs

Beach hut hire
Beach hut hire, Wells-next-the-Sea

Staying in Wells-next-the-Sea? We’ve had magical times at our beach hut and love helping you to as well. We provide tea, coffee, hot chocolate and sweets and share with guests all our toys and games. You can relax in the deck chairs, use the buckets and spades, or there’s cricket, rounders, boules and more. Our favourite time is as the beach empties and the sun sets on another perfect day.

Both huts are dog-friendly.

No overnight stays.

Both huts are about 5 minutes’ walk from the beach car park.

Please leave the hut ready for the next guests.

BEACH HUT FAQs

How much does your beach hut cost for the day/week?

Enter your dates into the booking calendar to check pricing and availability.

Why does day hire look like an overnight stay?

The booking software shows bookings as overnights, but if you’ve booked from the 1st to the 2nd of X month, you have the hut all day on the 1st, and need to leave it ready for the next guests arriving on the 2nd.

Is your beach hut dog-friendly?

Yes, beach hut 82 is dog-friendly. Signs on the beach direct you to where dogs are not allowed, including to the right of the lifeguard hut and in the seal enclosure. The no-dog zones are also important for nesting birds. The North Norfolk coast is one of the most important wildlife corridors in the world for migratory birds. Please keep dogs away from the seal enclosure. The seals like to haul out and rest, and pups were born on the beach during the Covid lockdowns. You don't need to chase/encourage them back to the sea.

How do I get to the beach?

You can drive and park in the beach car park, walk the mile from town, hire bikes, or during the summer take the electric bus. See my local tips page for bike hire. You can pay by card or cash at the beach car park. The machines are operated by Pinewoods, part of the Holkham estate. Please note that the car park can fill up by 9.30 or 10am during the peak summer months. However, it also starts emptying by about 3 or 4pm. Our favourite times at the beach hut have been in the evenings, when the beach empties and the sun sets on another perfect day.

How far is your beach hut from the car park, cafe and loos?

Use the steps at the back of the beach car park and turn left when you hit the beach beside the lifeguard hut. The walk is about 5 minutes, or 10 with toddlers! The nearest cafe is in the beach car park and there are loos opposite. From roughly Easter to October, the loos in the pinewoods are also open. Leave the beach using the steps by Bear Hut and turn right when you reach the bottom on the other side.

Is there water, heating or a fridge?

There's no electricity or running water in the Wells beach huts. I provide a water dispenser in our beach hut, and a water canister to top it up. The nearest tap to top up the canister is by the lifeguard hut. We also like to fill up beside number 138 for a stroll along the beach! You can book our beach hut during the winter months when the taps on the beach are switched off. I therefore leave a full canister twice a week, which has always worked out to be plenty. In the colder months, I provide hot water bottles and blankets.
